The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has recorded a political development following the resignation of 14 former councillors from Bida Local Government Area over alleged imposition of candidates.
The former councillors, led by former Speaker Mohammed Shafii, announced their decision to leave the party, citing concerns over what they described as a lack of internal democracy and dissatisfaction with recent party primary processes.
According to the group, members were allegedly sidelined during the conduct of the primaries, a development they said influenced their decision to exit the party.
The former councillors further disclosed plans to align with opposition political forces ahead of the 2027 general elections as political activities gradually begin to gather momentum.
