APC Accuses Atiku, ADC of Plotting to Disrupt Kaduna Campaign Flag-Off With Fake News

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of allegedly orchestrating a disinformation campaign to undermine the party's presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State.

The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, and signed by Dele Alake, spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
According to the council, artificial intelligence-generated content, deepfake videos, doctored documents and misleading social media posts were allegedly being used to discredit the planned campaign event.

The council cited reports concerning a security vehicle near an APC campaign billboard and a purported letter claiming that the Kaduna State Government had released ₦2.3 trillion to host the rally. It described the reports as misleading and the purported letter as fabricated.

The APC campaign council also questioned the credibility of the alleged ₦2.3 trillion expenditure, arguing that the figure was inconsistent with Kaduna State's annual budgets for 2024, 2025 and 2026, which it said amounted to less than the claimed expenditure.

The council further alleged that old or manipulated videos could be circulated during the rally to create a false impression of public dissatisfaction with the APC campaign.

It urged Nigerians to exercise caution when consuming information on social media and to avoid sharing unverified reports.

However, the allegations against Atiku Abubakar and the ADC remain claims made by the APC Presidential Campaign Council. The statement, as presented, does not provide independent evidence establishing that either Atiku or the ADC coordinated the alleged disinformation campaign.
