At least 12 people have been killed and 309 others injured following an attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, prompting authorities to temporarily suspend airport operations, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has said.
The attack occurred on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as regional hostilities involving Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement intensified. GACA said the airport sustained material damage and that emergency authorities were assessing the extent of the destruction while checking the safety of airport facilities.
According to the latest figures released by Saudi authorities, those killed included four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals and one citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan. The 309 injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, with some reportedly in critical condition.
The Saudi-led coalition has blamed Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement for the attack. The strike followed earlier attacks on King Khalid International Airport during the same week, including an incident on Thursday in which Saudi authorities said three Saudi citizens, including a pilot, were killed.
Airport operations were suspended to allow authorities to assess the damage and verify that the facilities were safe before resumption. The disruption has also affected air travel, with flights diverted or cancelled amid heightened security concerns.
