The Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has scheduled Thursday, October 15, 2026, for the inauguration of the state’s Federated Online Chapel.
The council chairman, Comrade Abu Nmodu, announced the date on Thursday, October 8, in Minna when members of the sensitisation committee for the proposed chapel paid him a courtesy visit at the IBB Pen House.
Nmodu said the inauguration had been delayed by some technical issues which had now been resolved. He urged members of the incoming interim executive committee to operate within the provisions of the NUJ Constitution and abide by the union’s regulations.
The NUJ chairman also stressed the importance of professional qualifications, saying membership of the Federated Online Chapel should be limited to practitioners who meet the required qualifications for journalism practice.
He advised individuals without the requisite credentials to pursue relevant training and obtain the qualifications required to practise journalism professionally.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Sulaiman Isa, thanked the NUJ State Council for approving the establishment of the chapel.
Isa assured the council that the incoming interim executive would comply with the directives and regulations of the State Council and uphold the professional standards of the union.
The inauguration of the Interim Executive of the Federated Online Chapel is scheduled to take place at the IBB Pen House in Minna, Niger State, on October 15.
