The Kaduna State Government has promised to provide housing, cover medical expenses and ensure sustained psychosocial care for Malam Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife, Nafisah, and their daughter, Fatima, following their release from captivity.
Governor Uba Sani disclosed this on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, after visiting the family at a Kaduna State Government safe house, where they are receiving medical care following their discharge from hospital.
In a statement, the governor said he was encouraged by the family's recovery and assured them of continued government support throughout their healing process.
Sani described their experience as a reminder of the human cost of insecurity, stressing the need to protect lives and restore peace to affected communities.
He said the state government would provide the family with a home, meet their medical expenses and ensure access to psychosocial support to help them recover and rebuild their lives.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to tackling banditry and other criminal activities through closer cooperation with security agencies, improved coordination and stronger engagement with communities.
Sani thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his involvement in efforts to secure the family's safety. He also commended the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and security agencies for their contributions to the family's safe return.
According to the governor, Ahmed Abubakar Zakka expressed appreciation to the Federal and Kaduna State governments and security agencies for their efforts and support.
Sani said the family's welfare and recovery would remain a priority for his administration in the coming months.
