Tinubu Inaugurates 2027 Campaign Committee, Calls for APC Unity

President urges party leaders to focus on securing votes across wards, local governments and states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign committee for the 2027 general elections, urging party leaders and members to unite and intensify efforts to secure his re-election for a second term.
Tinubu made the call during the inauguration ceremony at the Presidential Conference Centre in Abuja, where he said the party was preparing to renew its commitment to Nigerians.

The president said the APC’s previous electoral victory would not be sufficient without another win in 2027. He urged party leaders and stakeholders to mobilise support and secure votes across wards, local government areas and states.
Tinubu also stressed that the campaign preparations would not distract his administration from governance, adding that his government would continue implementing policies under its Renewed Hope Agenda.

Shettima Criticises Atiku, Obi

Vice President Kashim Shettima praised Tinubu for what he described as efforts to strengthen democracy but criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over comments he said undermined the dignity of the presidency.
Shettima also criticised Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the New Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing him of using unreliable statistics and making comparisons between Nigeria and other countries without adequately considering their differing circumstances.

The allegations were attributed to Shettima, and the available information did not include responses from Atiku or Obi.

APC Outlines Campaign Strategy

APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, said the campaign committee would coordinate activities from the ward level to the state level.

He said the campaign would focus on communicating the administration’s policies and achievements to Nigerians while mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodimma, also expressed confidence in the administration’s policies, citing the removal of the petrol subsidy and foreign exchange reforms as key economic measures.

Uzodimma said Nigeria’s economic growth had risen to 4.43 per cent from 4.23 per cent in the previous year, while acknowledging that the reforms had also created challenges for citizens.

Governors, National Assembly Leaders Declare Support

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike were among those reported to have expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Wike, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said his support for Tinubu was based on what he described as the president’s willingness to confront challenges that previous administrations had failed to resolve.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas also urged Nigerians to support Tinubu, arguing that he should be given the opportunity to complete the projects and programmes initiated by his administration.
