The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), Senator Abdulaziz Yari, says the council is seeking prayers, blessings and guidance from traditional rulers, rather than political endorsements, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yari stated this during a consultative tour of traditional institutions in northern Nigeria, where a delegation led by him visited the Emirs of Gwandu, Katsina, Daura and Zaria.
According to a statement from Yari’s Media Office, the delegation included Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and several other serving and former governors and political leaders.
The statement said the traditional rulers received the delegation and offered prayers for peace, unity and the success of Nigeria’s democratic process.
Yari said traditional institutions remained important to the country’s political process, particularly through their moral guidance and contributions to peace and stability.
