President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed confidence that insecurity in Northern Nigeria will soon be overcome, saying his administration is working tirelessly to restore peace while implementing reforms aimed at strengthening education, infrastructure, power supply and the economy.
Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday at the third memorial lecture in honour of the late General Hassan Usman Katsina, held at Arewa House in Kaduna. The President was represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Alhaji Ibrahim Masari.
Speaking at the event, Tinubu said the Federal Government remained committed to the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said focuses on improving security, expanding educational opportunities, developing critical infrastructure and promoting sustainable economic growth.
On security, the President said ongoing operations by security agencies were yielding results and expressed optimism that the challenge of insecurity, particularly in Northern Nigeria, would soon be resolved.

Tinubu also highlighted progress in the education sector, stating that more than one million students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which provides financial support for tertiary education. He added that universities had been removed from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), restoring greater financial autonomy to the institutions.
According to the President, the Federal Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), is investing in classrooms, student hostels, research facilities and science infrastructure, while supporting curriculum reforms and expanding technical and vocational education.
He further outlined ongoing infrastructure projects, including the reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano highway, the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway, the Sokoto–Zamfara–Kaduna road and the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe road corridor, describing them as key investments to improve transportation and stimulate economic activities.
In the power sector, Tinubu said the government was implementing projects such as the Kaduna Power Station, the 40-megawatt Kumbotso High Voltage Power Project, rural solar mini-grids and the rehabilitation of the 215-megawatt Kaduna Power Plant.
He also disclosed that the former College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Kaduna had been upgraded to Gen. Hassan Usman Katsina University, adding that the institution had commenced academic activities with construction said to be over 90 per cent complete.
On transportation, the President said work was progressing on the Kaduna–Kano railway and the Kano–Maradi rail project. He added that funds had been allocated for the Kaduna and Kano light rail projects, while rehabilitation of the Abuja Metro Rail and improvements to the Abuja–Kaduna rail service were also underway.
Tinubu said his administration was pursuing policies to strengthen agriculture, improve food security, empower young people and expand social intervention programmes to create jobs and support long-term economic development.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to remain united and continue supporting government efforts to build a peaceful, secure and prosperous nation.
