The National Examinations Council (NECO) has cautioned members of the public against fraudulent online recruitment portals claiming to offer appointments as examination supervisors for the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.
In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, the examination body disclosed that some fake platforms are misleading applicants into submitting academic credentials and making payments under the guise of recruitment.
NECO stressed that it does not charge any fee for the recruitment of supervisors and advised prospective applicants to disregard any individual or website requesting payment for the exercise.
The Council explained that it has transitioned from the traditional analogue recruitment system to a fully electronic process in line with recommendations aimed at improving the quality and credibility of public examinations in Nigeria.
According to NECO, qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above, who are at least 30 years old, are expected to apply directly through the Council's official recruitment portal if they wish to participate in the supervision of the 2026 SSCE Internal examination.
The examination body emphasized that the recruitment process is fully automated and does not require the services of agents or third parties.
NECO noted that the digital recruitment system is designed to eliminate fraud, strengthen examination supervision, reduce malpractice, and ensure transparency and fairness in the selection of supervisors.
The Council further revealed that over 22,000 supervisors will be engaged for the 2026 SSCE Internal examination scheduled to commence on June 15, 2026.
NECO urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid unofficial recruitment platforms, warning that anyone dealing with unauthorized individuals or websites does so at their own risk.
