The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has officially announced Fred Agbedi as the new Minority Leader of the House.
Agbedi represents the Ekeremor/Sagbama Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State.
The announcement was made during plenary on Thursday, alongside the unveiling of other principal officers of the minority caucus. Abdusamad Dasuki was named Deputy Minority Leader, while Aliyu Sani Madaki was announced as Minority Whip.
The development followed calls by members of the G-60 opposition caucus, who earlier demanded that the House leadership address the issue of minority leadership positions.
The announcement effectively resolves weeks of uncertainty surrounding the composition of the minority leadership in the Green Chamber. :::
