A public affairs commentator, Abubakar Isah, has called for greater transparency and accountability in the management and distribution of relief materials and donations provided to victims of the Mokwa flood disaster.
Speaking during an interview on Point Blank, Isah questioned the response of the Mokwa Local Government Council and urged its Chairman, Hon. Jibril Abdullahi Muregi, to provide a detailed account of interventions and assistance delivered to affected communities.
He called on the council to publicly explain measures taken so far and clarify how relief materials and support received from government agencies, organisations and donors have been distributed to victims.
According to Isah, residents have a right to be informed about relief efforts and recovery initiatives undertaken on their behalf.
The commentator also urged citizens to continue demanding accountability from public officials to ensure transparency in post-disaster recovery programmes.
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions over relief, rehabilitation and support for communities affected by the Mokwa flood disaster.
