Leaders of Islamic organisations in Niger State have accepted the apology tendered by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Niger State Chapter, Hon. Aminu Musa Bobi, following remarks attributed to him suggesting that religious leaders had not provided sufficient spiritual guidance and counsel to the state government.
The resolution was reached during a meeting convened by the Director-General of the Niger State Bureau of Religious Affairs, Imam (Dr.) Umar Farooq Abdullahi, at his residence in Bosso Estate, Minna.
According to participants at the meeting, discussions centred on concerns generated by the statement and the need to preserve mutual understanding between political and religious stakeholders in the state.
After deliberations, the Islamic scholars unanimously accepted the Chairman’s apology and appealed to members of the public to refrain from further circulation of the statement in order to prevent unnecessary tension and promote unity.
The scholars noted that mistakes are part of human nature and emphasised the importance of dialogue, forgiveness, and peaceful coexistence.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Bobi personally reiterated his apology and sought continued guidance, prayers, and support from religious leaders for the peace, progress, and development of Niger State.
He also pledged to sustain cordial relations and continuous engagement with religious leaders across the state.
The scholars commended the APC Chairman for taking responsibility for his remarks and encouraged all stakeholders to embrace dialogue and mutual respect in the interest of Niger State.
