The Presidency has rejected recent comments by Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, , calling for the resignation of President , describing the remarks as misplaced and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Monday, Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, , said comparisons between Nigeria’s presidential system and the parliamentary structure of the United Kingdom were inappropriate.
According to the Presidency, President Tinubu was elected for a constitutionally defined tenure and should be assessed through democratic processes and future elections rather than calls for resignation.
The statement defended the administration’s record on security, citing intensified operations, expanded deployment of security technology, and efforts to strengthen national security coordination.
On the economy, the Presidency highlighted indicators including GDP growth, improved government revenue, increased foreign reserves, growth in oil production, and renewed investor confidence as outcomes of ongoing reforms.
The Presidency also referenced infrastructure projects, electricity sector reforms, expansion of compressed natural gas (CNG) initiatives, and student loan programmes as part of broader development efforts.
While acknowledging economic challenges and cost-of-living concerns, the statement maintained that government policies are targeted at addressing structural issues and supporting long-term stability.
The Presidency concluded that President Tinubu remains focused on governance and reforms while urging political actors to engage through democratic processes ahead of future elections.
