President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, who reportedly died while in the custody of terrorists in Katsina State.
According to a statement issued by the Presidency, the late military officer was travelling to his hometown after retirement when he was abducted.
President Tinubu extended condolences to the family of the deceased, particularly his wife, who remains in captivity, as well as to the Katsina State Government and the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s position against negotiating with terrorists, stating that the government would not yield to demands for the release of terror suspects in custody.
He maintained that Nigeria remains committed to defeating terrorism and ensuring lasting security across the country.
