The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has congratulated Dr. Omoniyi Ibietan on his re-election as Secretary-General of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), describing the achievement as a testament to his professionalism, dedication, and outstanding contributions to public relations across Africa.
Dr. Ibietan was re-elected during APRA's Annual General Meeting held in Swakopmund, Namibia. The association also elected Arik Karani of Kenya as President and Professor Michele Mekeme of Cameroon as Vice President.
In a congratulatory message, the minister said the renewed mandate reflects the confidence reposed in Dr. Ibietan by public relations professionals across the continent and their trust in his leadership.
Mohammed Idris noted that the re-election is not only a recognition of Dr. Ibietan's professional excellence but also a source of pride for Nigeria and the communications industry.
He expressed confidence that Dr. Ibietan would continue to provide effective leadership as APRA strengthens collaboration among African nations and advances the continent's digital transformation agenda.
The minister also commended APRA for its sustained efforts in promoting ethical public relations practice and strategic communication across Africa.
He reaffirmed Nigeria's readiness to host the 37th APRA Annual Conference and the World Public Relations Forum, scheduled to take place in Abuja later this year.
