SUIEC declares election successful as students elect new executive council and representatives for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Comrade Musa Ibrahim Muhammad has been elected President of the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna Students’ Union for the 2026/2027 academic session following a peaceful election conducted by the Students’ Union Independent Electoral Committee (SUIEC) on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
The election, held at the University e-Centre on the Main Campus, produced a new Students’ Union Executive Council (SU EXCO) and members of the Students’ Representative Assembly (RSA) in what officials described as a peaceful and orderly process.
Musa, a 400-level student of the Department of Food Science and Technology, secured 1,766 votes to defeat his closest rival, Comrade Arowosegbe Daniel Precious, a 400-level Mechanical Engineering student, who polled 1,139 votes.
Announcing the results on Search FM 92.3, SUIEC Chairman, Prof. Adamu Yusuf Kabiru, congratulated the successful candidates and urged those who were not elected to accept the outcome in good faith.
According to him, leadership provides continuous opportunities for service, regardless of electoral outcomes. He also commended students for maintaining peace and discipline throughout the exercise.
Prof. Kabiru further appreciated the University Management, security personnel, electoral officials, contestants, and the student body for their contributions to the successful conduct of the election.
He reaffirmed SUIEC’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, and transparent elections, expressing confidence that the newly elected officers would work in the interest of students and promote their welfare during their tenure.
Other elected members of the Students’ Union Executive Council include Sunday Danbaba Bulus as Vice President I, Akinsoyinu Grace Oluwaferanmi as Vice President II, Muhammad Nurudeen Liman as General Secretary, Abdulmalik Zeniatu as Assistant General Secretary, Adaji Diana Unekwu-Ojo as Financial Secretary, Mustapha Zainab Nifemi as Treasurer, and Emman Shem Majesty as Public Relations Officer.
Also elected were Yahaya Nura as Welfare Officer I, Ekpenyong Emmanuel Etim as Welfare Officer II, Paul Nathan as Director of Socials, and Achin Kumator Samuel as Director of Sports.
The election marks the beginning of a new administration expected to represent students’ interests and oversee union activities during the 2026/2027 academic session.
