The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has urged Nigerians to emulate the teachings and exemplary life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), particularly his values of peace, compassion, unity, patience, justice and mutual respect.
Idris made the call in a Mawlid message issued on Tuesday to mark the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad. He congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, wishing them a peaceful and blessed celebration.
The minister described the occasion as an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the life and teachings of the Prophet, particularly his emphasis on peaceful coexistence, compassion, patience, justice, humility and respect for others.
According to him, these values remain important as Nigeria continues to undergo economic changes and efforts aimed at revitalising the economy.
Idris said the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, remained committed to building a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria through economic reforms, improved security, infrastructure development, and expanded access to education, skills acquisition and business opportunities.
He said sustaining the country's development efforts would require patience, sacrifice and collective commitment from Nigerians, urging citizens to support efforts aimed at building a secure, stable and prosperous nation where no one is left behind.
The minister also called on Nigerians to remember vulnerable members of society and extend assistance to those in need, stressing the importance of compassion and support for one another.
Idris prayed for the Mawlid celebration to strengthen the faith of Muslims, promote peace and unity, and bring blessings to families and communities.
He also prayed for continued divine guidance for the country's leaders and for lasting peace, security and prosperity in Nigeria.
