The Niger State Government says it has reconstructed more than 1,000 classrooms and distributed 120,000 chairs and tables to schools across the state as part of efforts to improve learning conditions.
The government also says it has installed more than 100 solar-powered boreholes and provided toilet facilities in schools to strengthen access to water and sanitation.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital Media and Communication, Abdulberqy Ebbo, disclosed this in a statement issued in Minna.
According to the statement, the interventions were assessed during a monitoring exercise across beneficiary schools in nine Local Government Areas of the state; Bosso, Edati, Gurara, Katcha, Lavun, Mokwa, Munya, Paikoro and Shiroro.
The monitoring team visited schools including JSS Birgi and DSS Shata in Bosso; GDSS Rokota and JSS Lenfa-Bororo in Edati; JSS Boysarki in Gurara; schools across Katcha, Lavun and Mokwa; DSS Guni and JSS Kuchi in Munya; GGSS Kaffin Koro in Paikoro; as well as several schools in Shiroro.
The state government says the projects form part of its continued investment in basic and post-basic education, aimed at improving school infrastructure and creating a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
