The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has disassociated itself from an association operating under the name National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Federal Unity Colleges, saying the body is neither recognised nor authorised by the Ministry.
In a press release dated September 21, 2026, the Ministry said the association does not represent the individual PTAs in the 118 Federal Unity Colleges across the country and has no mandate to speak on behalf of the colleges, their PTAs, parents or guardians.
The Ministry consequently advised members of the public to disregard any statement, directive, appeal or other communication issued by the association, describing such communications as having no official standing.
The FME urged parents and guardians to rely exclusively on official information issued by the Ministry and the management of their respective Federal Unity Colleges on matters concerning schools, students and academic activities.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, also urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards are in their respective Federal Unity Colleges, following the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session nationwide.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to the effective administration of the Federal Unity Colleges and to maintaining a safe, conducive and supportive learning environment for students throughout the academic session.
