The Federal Government has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.
The Federal Ministry of Education gave the assurance on Friday, September 11, saying necessary arrangements had been put in place to support a safe and orderly commencement of the new academic session.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain a priority of the Federal Government.
According to the Minister, relevant security agencies have been informed of the resumption arrangements and are maintaining heightened vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.
He said the coordinated security measures are intended to safeguard students, staff and members of school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.
The Minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and make the necessary preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective schools on Monday.
Dr. Alausa also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful and orderly resumption.
He called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to contribute to maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment, stressing that the safety of learners is a shared responsibility.
The ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and work with relevant authorities to address any issues that may affect the smooth resumption of academic activities.
