Police Confirm Six Dead in Girei Road Accident

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the death of six people in a fatal road accident along Girei Road on Friday, September 4, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said preliminary findings showed that the victims were taken to a hospital following the crash, where they were confirmed dead.

Police operatives from the Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing and the Central Motor Traffic Division were deployed to the scene to evacuate the victims and restore traffic flow.

Earlier reports suggested that some of the deceased may have been students of Modibbo Adama University. However, the police have not officially confirmed the identities or affiliations of the victims.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to exercise caution, obey traffic regulations and avoid speeding.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
