President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and recalling their years together.
In a birthday message issued by the State House, President Tinubu said the First Lady had stood by him through different stages of their lives, offering counsel, prayers and support during difficult periods.
He said her presence and advice had been important to him, noting that she often provided counsel before he asked for it and spoke candidly with him when necessary.
Reflecting on their marriage, President Tinubu said he would make the same choice if he were given the opportunity to start over.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” he said.
The President also highlighted the First Lady’s public service activities, referencing her work through the New Era Foundation and the Renewed Hope Initiative, particularly programmes involving young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers.
He further acknowledged her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, while describing her humanitarian activities as extending across ethnic, regional and religious lines.
Oluremi Tinubu, who was born on September 21, 1960, served as Senator for Lagos Central before becoming Nigeria’s First Lady in May 2023. She previously served as First Lady of Lagos State during her husband’s tenure as governor.
President Tinubu concluded his message by wishing his wife a happy 66th birthday and praying for her continued good health, joy and many more years.
