APC Leaders Mobilise Support for Tinubu, Shettima Ahead of 2027 Election in Lafia

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to mobilise political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a rally organised by the North-Central Renewed Hope Support Group at Lafia Square in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday.

The rally attracted the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside governors, party leaders, women, youths and supporters from the six states of the North-Central geopolitical zone.
The event was hosted by Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi A. Sule, as party leaders sought to consolidate support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Governors from Niger, Benue, Plateau, Kogi and Kwara states attended alongside their Nasarawa counterpart. Other dignitaries included the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, and the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman, as well as other federal government officials.

First Lady Calls for Grassroots Mobilisation

Addressing the gathering, Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended the organisers for bringing together political leaders and supporters from across the North-Central region.

She also acknowledged the role of Senator George Akume in coordinating stakeholders within the support group and praised APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda for his involvement in efforts to strengthen the party's mobilisation ahead of the next general elections.

The First Lady said women across the country were organising under the APC Women Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate their political activities and build support for President Tinubu's re-election bid.

According to her, the strategy involves engaging households and communities, reaching voters directly and communicating the administration's policies and achievements.

She also highlighted the federal government's economic reforms, infrastructure projects, healthcare interventions and education support programmes, including student loans administered through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Oluremi Tinubu maintained that the administration's objective was to strengthen the economy, expand opportunities and improve living conditions for Nigerians.

APC Chairman Defends Tinubu's Re-election Bid

In his remarks, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda described the rally as a significant demonstration of support for President Tinubu's second-term ambition.

He commended the organisers for bringing together party leaders, political structures and supporters from across the region.

Yilwatda argued that President Tinubu deserved another term, citing the administration's economic reforms and its stated commitment to laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

He also maintained that the North-Central region had benefited from federal government interventions and urged residents to support the APC in the 2027 elections.

The APC chairman called on voters to support Tinubu, Shettima and other party candidates at the federal, state and other levels of government.

Uzodimma Urges Support for Economic Reforms

Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, praised the organisers for providing a platform for political mobilisation across the North-Central region.

He defended the federal government's economic reforms, describing them as necessary measures to restructure the Nigerian economy and place it on a sustainable growth path.

Uzodimma urged Nigerians to consider the administration's policies and their intended long-term effects as the country continues to navigate economic adjustments.

He also called on voters in the North-Central region to support the APC and its candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Governors Emphasise Unity and Development

Other governors and political leaders who addressed the rally expressed support for the administration's reform agenda and stressed the importance of cooperation between federal and state governments.

They highlighted infrastructure development, economic growth, security and public welfare as key areas requiring sustained collaboration.

Governor Abdullahi Sule welcomed the First Lady and other dignitaries to Nasarawa State and commended the large turnout of party supporters from across the region.
