There is no terrorist or Boko Haram colony in Niger State,” Bago said.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State says the state has no ungoverned territory or established terrorist enclave, while acknowledging that some communities have been affected by attacks linked to terrorists operating across state borders.

Bago made the clarification during an interview with journalists in Abuja after receiving a delegation from the Niger Development Forum at the state’s liaison office.
The governor said although some parts of Niger State had come under attack, the situation should not be interpreted as evidence that terrorist groups control territory within the state.

“We do not have any ungoverned space in Niger State. We have places that are being terrorised, and that is a fact. There is no terrorist or Boko Haram colony in Niger State,” Bago said.

He explained that some of the attacks were carried out by terrorists entering Niger State from neighbouring states, stressing that his administration was working with the Federal Government to strengthen security across affected areas.

According to the governor, security agencies have increased deployments while government authorities continue to collaborate with federal security institutions to protect lives and livelihoods.

Bago expressed confidence that the ongoing security measures would improve the situation, saying efforts were being made to restore greater stability across Niger State and the wider country.
