The Federal Government has released the Consolidated Non-Academic Staff Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CONTA) for non-academic staff of federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, covering January to August 2026.
The Federal Ministry of Education announced the release in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, and signed by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade.
Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the payment was part of the government’s efforts to improve workers’ welfare, promote industrial harmony and minimise disruptions within the tertiary education system.
According to the minister, the allowance recognises the contribution of non-academic personnel to the effective functioning of tertiary institutions and the development of Nigeria’s human capital.
The ministry said the development follows the commencement of payment of the Consolidated Academic Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CATA) to academic staff.
The Federal Ministry of Education also assured staff and other stakeholders that it would continue engagements with unions and institutional authorities to address outstanding welfare issues and promote stability across the tertiary education sector.
