Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Nigeria’s North-Central region have announced plans to hold a political rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi A. Sule, is expected to host the rally, while First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu will attend as the special guest of honour.
The announcement followed a meeting of APC stakeholders from the North-Central region held in Abuja on Thursday, October 8, under the leadership of the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
The meeting was attended by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; governors and deputy governors from the region; ministers; members of the National Assembly; and other political officeholders.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Yilwatda said party leaders had agreed to coordinate their political structures and mobilise supporters across the region to ensure the success of the planned rally.
He described the event as a major political gathering aimed at demonstrating unity among APC stakeholders in the North-Central region and strengthening support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, the meeting also emphasised the need for increased grassroots engagement and collaboration among party leaders, women’s groups, youth organisations and other supporters.
The APC national chairman commended Akume for his efforts in bringing political stakeholders together and acknowledged Governor Sule’s willingness to host the rally in Nasarawa State.
Participants also welcomed the planned attendance of the First Lady, saying preparations were underway to bring together party leaders and supporters from the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Meanwhile, Yilwatda expressed condolences to the families of those who died in a recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft accident in Ondo State and a mining-related incident in Niger State.
He extended the party’s sympathies to the affected families and communities, describing the incidents as painful losses.
The meeting ended with APC stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to the planned Lafia rally and their support for Tinubu and Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
