Businessman Dies at TikTok Creator’s Residence in Kano, Police Launch Investigation

The Kano State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a businessman, Isma’il Makaye, who reportedly died under controversial circumstances at the residence of a female TikTok content creator popularly known as Fati Cele in the Danbare area of Kumbotso Local Government Area.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the tragedy occurred in the early hours of Friday when an alarm was reportedly raised over a suspected fire outbreak at the residence.

Residents who responded to the distress call reportedly found the victim with burn injuries and visible bloodstains on parts of his body. He was subsequently rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where medical personnel later confirmed his death.
Sources close to the family disclosed that the deceased, a cosmetics trader based in the Hotoro Tishama area of Kano, was buried on Friday in accordance with Islamic rites.

It was further gathered that the TikTok personality has been taken into police custody as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Family associates and friends of both parties revealed that the deceased and the woman had previously experienced relationship challenges before reconciling prior to the incident.

The case has generated widespread reactions across social media platforms, with many users calling for a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident.
