President Tinubu Names 26 Officials to Key Federal Positions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 individuals to leadership positions across 10 federal government agencies and commissions, according to a statement issued by the Presidency on Monday.

The appointments, announced in a State House press release signed by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect and affect agencies responsible for electrification, population management, fiscal oversight, salary administration, education, housing and energy development.

Among the appointments, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose was named Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). He will serve alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, while the agency's Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and other executive directors remain on the board.

President Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission. Former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was named Secretary of the commission.

Other appointees to the commission include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna) as commissioners, while Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) were appointed as members.

In another development, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, previously appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), was reassigned as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The President also approved the appointment of Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET), and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Similarly, Engineer Julius Oloro was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State. He succeeds Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.

President Tinubu also constituted a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Other members of the board include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

In the education sector, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu'aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.

The President also approved the appointment of Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA). Iorja replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned from the position to pursue political ambitions in Benue State.

According to the Presidency, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen governance, improve institutional performance and enhance service delivery across federal agencies and commissions.
