The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed over ₦1.24 billion to Bayero University, Kano (BUK) to cover the tuition fees of 10,617 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a statement issued by the university's Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, the institution received the ₦1,241,414,100 on April 30, 2026, as the first tranche of payments under the Federal Government's student loan scheme.
Aliyu said the funds were meant for undergraduate beneficiaries of the NELFUND programme and commended the agency for its continued support in expanding access to higher education through financial assistance.
NELFUND was established by the Federal Government to provide student loans aimed at reducing the financial burden of tertiary education and improving access to higher education across Nigeria.
