Niger Assembly Speaker Hails Abdulsalami's Legacy on 84th Birthday

The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, has congratulated former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, on his 84th birthday anniversary.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Sarkin-Daji described the elder statesman as one of Nigeria's most respected leaders whose contributions to peace, democracy, and national development remain remarkable.

The Speaker noted that General Abdulsalami's leadership during the 1998 transition programme, which ushered Nigeria back to democratic rule in 1999, remains a significant milestone in the nation's history.
He also commended the former Head of State for his continued commitment to peacebuilding and national unity through his role as Chairman of the National Peace Committee, noting that his efforts have contributed to strengthening democratic processes and political stability across the country.

Speaking on behalf of the leadership and members of the Niger State 10th Assembly, Sarkin-Daji joined Nigerians in celebrating the former Head of State's legacy of service, patriotism, and statesmanship.

He prayed for continued good health, wisdom, and strength for General Abdulsalami Abubakar, while describing him as a national icon whose contributions to Nigeria's growth and democratic development continue to inspire generations.
