The Niger State Private Health Facilities Agency (NISPHFA) has intensified its enforcement efforts across the state, sealing 25 private health facilities operating in violation of healthcare regulations and arresting a suspected fake medical practitioner.
According to the agency, 10 illegal private hospitals were shut down in Bida for failing to comply with licensing requirements, minimum operational standards, and other regulatory provisions governing healthcare service delivery.
In Suleja, the agency's enforcement taskforce sealed an additional 15 private health facilities over various regulatory infractions. The operation also led to the arrest of an individual alleged to have been posing as a medical doctor without the necessary qualifications, professional registration, or valid practising licence.
The suspect has been handed over to security agencies for further investigation and possible prosecution.
NISPHFA stated that the enforcement actions are part of ongoing efforts to sanitize the private healthcare sector, protect patients, and ensure that only qualified professionals provide medical services in Niger State.
The agency further urged private healthcare providers to comply with established regulations and called on residents to report suspicious healthcare practices to the appropriate authorities.
Health officials said the measures are aimed at strengthening healthcare standards and promoting safer medical services across the state.
