Niger State governor reiterates ban on illegal mining and calls for swift action against those responsible for the officer's death.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed condolences to the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) following the death of Aminu Eshin (ASC II), who was killed during an attack at an illegal mining site in Korokpa village.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday through his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor described the incident as tragic and commended the late officer's commitment to protecting lives and enforcing the law.
Governor Bago extended his sympathies to the leadership of the NSCDC as well as the immediate and extended family of the deceased officer. He also prayed for Allah to forgive the late officer's shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
The governor called on security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, stressing that justice must be served. He assured residents of the state's commitment to tackling criminal activities associated with illegal mining.
Reaffirming the Niger State Government's position on illegal mining, Governor Bago warned individuals involved in the activity to desist immediately, noting that the ban on illegal mining remains in force. He added that anyone found violating the law would face appropriate legal consequences.
