Reunion committee unveils initiative to support science education and encourages other alumni sets to contribute to the school's development.
The Class of 1985 alumni of Justice Idris Legbo Science College, Kutigi, has announced plans to donate laboratory chemicals, reagents, and other science practical equipment to the school as part of efforts to strengthen science education and improve learning facilities.
The announcement was made during the alumni's first reunion, held more than four decades after their graduation. Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Class of '85 Reunion Committee, Dr. Mohammed Shehu, said the donation was intended to give back to the institution that played a significant role in shaping the academic and professional lives of its former students.
Dr. Shehu explained that the laboratory support initiative forms part of a broader alumni effort to contribute to the continued growth and development of the college. He noted that the reunion also provided an opportunity for members to discuss additional ways of supporting their alma mater.
Also speaking, Muhammad Alfa described the reunion as a timely and meaningful gathering. He said the activities began with a reunion dinner where former classmates reconnected and reflected on their years at the college. The second day featured a breakfast meeting, allowing participants to exchange experiences and strengthen long-standing relationships.
Muhammad Alfa urged alumni from other graduating classes, both senior and junior to the Class of 1985, to undertake similar initiatives in support of the institution. He said such contributions would help improve educational standards while promoting community development through sustained investment in education.
The reunion brought together members of the Class of 1985 for the first time in over 40 years, reaffirming their shared commitment to preserving the legacy of Justice Idris Legbo Science College, Kutigi, and supporting its future development through practical interventions.
