DABEN Brighter Academy Represents Niger State, Earns Special Achievement Award at SPELL Africa Competition
Lapai-based school records top-10 finishes in its maiden appearance at the 17th SPELL Africa International Competition in Lagos.
DABEN Brighter Academy, Lapai, emerged as the only school representing Niger State at the 17th Edition of the SPELL Africa International Competition, where it received a Special Achievement Award after an impressive debut at the national event held in Lagos.
The academy participated in the competition after successfully qualifying from the state stage, with all 12 of its contestants advancing to the national finals. The team comprised four pupils from the Primary Section, four students from the Junior Secondary Section, and four students from the Senior Secondary Section.
According to the school, the delegation was accompanied by two coaches, while the Director, Principal, and Vice Principal attended the event to provide support and supervision throughout the competition.
The national competition brought together 190 schools from across Nigeria, with 245 contestants in the Primary category and 341 in the Secondary category. DABEN Brighter Academy competed against participants from across the country in its first appearance at the event.
The academy recorded its strongest performance in the Primary category, where two of its pupils finished among the top 10 contestants, placing 9th and 10th out of 245 participants. The performance earned the school a Special Achievement Award.
School management described the achievement as a significant milestone for the institution, noting that it came during its maiden participation in the competition and while serving as Niger State's sole representative.
The management also commended the efforts of the students, coaches, teachers, parents, and supporters, attributing the success to teamwork, preparation, and commitment to academic excellence.
