Executive and Legislative arms of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Students’ Union Government relieved of their positions following directive attributed to the Deanery of Students Affairs.
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, has been dissolved with immediate effect following a directive attributed to the University’s Deanery of Students Affairs Division.
The directive was conveyed in a letter dated August 17, 2026, issued by the Students’ Representative Assembly (SRA) and signed by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. Salihu Abdullahi.
According to the letter, both the Executive and Legislative Arms of the SUG have been dissolved, while all elected and appointed officers under the two arms have been relieved of their respective offices and responsibilities.
The letter stated that the affected officers would remain subject to further directives from the appropriate University authority.
The officers were also directed to hand over all official documents, properties and records of the Students’ Union Government as may be directed.
The letter expressed appreciation to the outgoing officers for their service and contributions to the Students’ Union and the welfare of students.
However, the document did not specify the reason for the dissolution, stating only that the action followed the approval and directive of the Deanery of Students Affairs Division.
The development effectively brings the tenure of the current elected and appointed SUG officers to an end, pending further directives or arrangements by the University authorities.
