Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has been honoured with the prestigious “Governor of the Year” award by Daily Times Nigeria.
The award was presented to Governor Bago at the Daily Times Centenary Heroes Award held in Abuja on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The event brought together prominent figures from across Nigeria, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, state governors, lawmakers, business leaders and technocrats, who were honoured in various categories for their contributions and achievements.
Receiving the award, Governor Bago described the recognition as an additional motivation to do more for the people of Niger State.
The Governor commended Daily Times Nigeria for recognising his administration’s efforts in agriculture, agribusiness, infrastructure development and other sectors.
Chairman of Folio Media Group, owners of Daily Times Nigeria, Fidelis Anosike, said the awardees were recognised for their contributions to humanity and their support for the organisation.
The ceremony also featured the unveiling of a book by the SGF and a keynote address by former African Development Bank President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, who was also among the award recipients.
Members of the Niger State Executive Council, government officials and well-wishers of the Governor attended the ceremony.
