The Niger State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has felicitated the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, on the occasion of his 23rd anniversary on the throne and 74th birthday.
In a goodwill message issued on September 11, 2026, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo, extended the ministry’s congratulations on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, the management and staff of the ministry, as well as the 25 Local Government Councils in the state.
Jantabo described the Etsu Nupe as a respected traditional ruler and father whose reign, according to the ministry, has been marked by peace, unity and purposeful leadership.
The Commissioner commended the monarch for what he described as his contributions to the development of the Nupe Kingdom, Niger State and Nigeria, particularly in promoting peace, cultural preservation, peaceful coexistence and cooperation between traditional institutions and government.
He said the Etsu Nupe’s 23 years on the throne represented a significant period of service and dedication to the wellbeing of his people, while his 74th birthday provided an opportunity to acknowledge his contributions to humanity.
Jantabo further prayed for continued good health, wisdom and strength for the monarch, wishing him many more years of peaceful and impactful leadership on the throne.
The Etsu Nupe marks his 23rd anniversary on the throne on September 11, 2026, while his 74th birthday falls on September 12, 2026.
