Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued a victim following an incident involving a kidnapping syndicate in Agyaragu, Nasarawa State.
The suspect, identified as Adamu Lamu, was arrested after a 31-year-old victim, Nehemiah Elisha, who had escaped from his abductors, reportedly spotted him at a market in the area and alerted troops nearby.
According to the Acting Media Information Officer of OPWS, Lt. Ahmad Zubairu, the troops responded to the alert and apprehended the suspect.
The circumstances surrounding the kidnapping and the number of other individuals allegedly involved in the syndicate were not disclosed in the statement.
The suspect has been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The development comes amid ongoing security operations aimed at tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities across parts of the North-Central region.
