FG Inaugurates Committee to Oversee Implementation of 2025 ASUU Agreement

The Federal Government has inaugurated the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC) for the 2025 agreement reached between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), aimed at ensuring the full and timely execution of all provisions of the pact.

The inauguration, held in Abuja, marks a significant step toward strengthening industrial harmony and stability in Nigeria's university system.
Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, described the committee's establishment as a major milestone in promoting accountability, compliance, and effective implementation of the agreement. She noted that the move reflects the commitment of both parties to dialogue, mutual respect, and sustainable reforms in the tertiary education sector.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abel O. Enitan, urged members of the committee to carry out their responsibilities with professionalism and objectivity.

Chairman of the committee, Olarewaju Tejuoso, pledged transparency and diligence in the discharge of the committee's mandate, while ASUU President, Chris Piwuna, called for sustained engagement and regular consultations between stakeholders.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to the full implementation of the agreement as part of efforts to maintain industrial peace and improve the quality of higher education in the country.
