According to a statement issued by the Acting Media Information Officer of the task force, Captain Jamilu Yahaya, the arrests were made during routine patrols across different parts of the state as part of ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.
Three of the suspects were apprehended along the Doro axis in Wawa, Borgu Local Government Area, where preliminary investigations linked them to a bandit group operating around the fringes of Kainji Lake National Park.
Security operatives recovered two Tecno keypad phones, an MP3 device, and ₦113,400 in cash from the suspects. The military said the MP3 device contained recorded propaganda and inciting messages allegedly connected to criminal activities.
In a separate operation, troops of the 221 Battalion arrested two additional suspects during a patrol near a military cantonment. Investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly gathering intelligence on the facility.
Items recovered from the duo included an Android phone, a Tecno keypad phone, a motorcycle, and ₦86,100 in cash.
The military confirmed that all five suspects are currently in custody for further investigation, while efforts continue to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected criminal network.
