A video has emerged showing an abducted principal of an Oyo State school dismissing reports that her abductors demanded ₦1 billion ransom, the release of certain individuals, and the implementation of Sharia law in Nigeria.
In the footage, the female principal refuted the claims, describing them as false and misleading. She said the circulating reports do not reflect the reality of their situation in captivity.
According to her, they have been held for 24 days, adding that misinformation being shared in the media is worsening the situation.
“These are not true,” she said. “Today makes it the 24th day that we have been in this place… We were shown some print media where it was stated that these people that abducted us requested ₦1 billion, the release of some people, and Sharia to be entrenched in the country. These are not true.”
She urged the public to disregard the claims, insisting they were not communicated by the abductors.
Authorities are yet to issue an official update on the incident.
