Executives of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) in Zone A have endorsed the party's governorship candidate, Idris Makanta, and signed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) governorship nomination form ahead of the 2027 election.
The endorsement took place on Sunday during a meeting between Makanta and the party's zonal, local government and ward executives at his residence in GRA, Bida.
During the meeting, the party executives passed a vote of confidence in the governorship candidate and unanimously nominated 10 members to sign the INEC governorship nomination form (Form EC13B) on behalf of Zone A.
Speaking at the gathering, Makanta reaffirmed that he remains the authentic governorship candidate of the NDC, stating that all constitutional requirements leading to his emergence were duly observed.
He urged party members to remain united and focused despite ongoing challenges within the party, expressing confidence that the NDC would emerge stronger ahead of the election.
The governorship hopeful also pledged to run an inclusive administration if elected, promising to work closely with party structures at all levels in implementing government programmes and policies.
Party leaders who spoke at the meeting commended Makanta's leadership qualities and commitment to youth empowerment, while calling on members to remain united in pursuit of electoral victory in 2027.
