Abdulaziz Charges Journalists, Influencers on Accuracy and Responsibility

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, has underscored the importance of ethical journalism in promoting good governance, accountability, and national development.
Speaking at the opening of the Arewa Media Summit 2026 in Kano, Abdulaziz said government must remain accountable to the people, while the media serves as a critical bridge between leaders and citizens.
He stressed that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of mistrust, noting that transparency and responsible communication are essential for strengthening public confidence in government institutions.
The presidential aide urged journalists and media practitioners to uphold professionalism, accuracy, and ethical standards in their work, describing responsible media practice as a necessity in today's rapidly evolving information environment.

Abdulaziz also highlighted the growing influence of social media and digital content creators, calling on influencers to embrace responsible communication and fact-based reporting.
According to him, governments at all levels should improve citizens' access to information, emphasizing that effective communication requires continuous engagement between public institutions and the people.

He further disclosed that the summit featured capacity-building sessions for social media influencers aimed at enhancing their skills and promoting constructive contributions to public discourse.
