The Federal Government has arraigned three men from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State before the Federal High Court in Abuja over their alleged involvement in the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The defendants — Abdulrazak Umar (also known as Abu Khalifa), Yunusa Musa (also known as Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (also known as Abu Itisar) — are facing a 10-count charge bordering on kidnapping, terrorism-related offences, aiding criminal activities, concealment of information, incitement, and illegal mining.
According to the charge, the three defendants allegedly conspired with Muhammad Sani, Jibril Mohammed, and Ibrahim Khabab between January and May 2026 to facilitate the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
The Federal Government also alleged that the suspects were members of Darul Salam, a group said to be linked to the proscribed terrorist organisation, Ansaru.
In addition, the first defendant, Abdulrazak Umar, is accused of training individuals for terrorist activities and using a WhatsApp group titled "The Oneness of Allah is the Foundation of Peace" to incite violent attacks.
He also faces a separate allegation of engaging in illegal gold mining in the Chaza area of Suleja between 2024 and 2026.
The defendants are expected to take their plea before the Federal High Court, Abuja, as proceedings commence on the charges filed against them.
