The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has recorded fresh resignations following the exit of former Commissioner for Water Resources, Suleiman Yusuf, and six immediate past councillors from the party.
Suleiman Yusuf, who also served as Campaign Director-General for a governorship aspirant in the state, announced his resignation, citing dissatisfaction with his treatment within the party.
The six former councillors who also resigned are Hon. Muhammad Isah of Jebba Ward, Mokwa Local Government Area; Usman Ndakotsu of Mambe Ward, Lavun LGA; Ismailu Usman of Muregi Ward, Mokwa LGA; Saidu Isah of Sakpe Ward, Edati LGA; Umaru Alhaji of Jaagi Ward, Mokwa LGA; and Idris Ndana of Muwo Gajibo Ward, Mokwa LGA.
The development comes less than three weeks after 14 former councillors in Bida Local Government Area resigned their membership of the APC.
The former councillors attributed their decision to alleged injustice and a lack of internal democracy within the party.
The latest resignations add to a series of political developments within the ruling party in Niger State as stakeholders continue to monitor evolving alignments ahead of future political activities.
