The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the submission of candidates’ lists by political parties for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, the previous deadline of Saturday, July 11, 2026, has been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
INEC said the decision followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that were unable to complete the upload of candidates’ names and personal particulars within the stipulated timeframe.
The Commission noted that the extension reflects its commitment to inclusivity and adherence to the provisions of the law, while providing political parties additional time to fulfill the submission requirements.
INEC urged all political parties to utilize the extension and ensure that all necessary details are uploaded before the new deadline expires.
