Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei to Be Buried Today in Mashhad

The remains of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, will be laid to rest today, Thursday, at the revered Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, his hometown.

The burial follows six days of nationwide mourning, prayers, and farewell ceremonies held across Iran and parts of Iraq, where millions of mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the late leader.
Khamenei's funeral rites have drawn significant public participation, reflecting his decades-long influence on Iran's political and religious landscape.

The Imam Reza Shrine, one of the most sacred sites in Shia Islam, has been prepared to receive the late leader's remains as dignitaries, religious figures, and mourners converge on Mashhad for the final burial ceremony.
