Minister Clarifies Remarks, Says No Approval to Replace NYSC Khaki Uniform

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has clarified that the Federal Government has not approved any plan to replace the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) khaki uniform with locally made Adire fabric.

The clarification followed comments the minister made during an interview on Channels Television, where he suggested the use of Adire as part of efforts to promote locally produced textiles and strengthen Nigeria's textile industry.
However, in a statement shared on his official X account on Thursday, Olawande explained that his reference to Adire was merely an example of locally made fabrics and should not be interpreted as a government decision to replace the NYSC uniform.

He stressed that no fabric has been approved to replace the existing NYSC khaki uniform, putting to rest speculation generated by his earlier remarks.

The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to supporting indigenous industries while noting that no official policy has been adopted regarding a change in the NYSC uniform.
