Community's proposals for roads, drainage and solar-powered streetlights may be considered under the project's second phase and the 2027 state budget.
The Chairman of the New Niger Development Project, Hon. Mustapha Abubakar Bida (Sarkin Dawakin Nupe), has assured residents of Kpakungu Community that their requests for key infrastructure projects will be considered during the second phase of the New Niger Development Project.
The assurance was given during a meeting with the executive members of the Alhairi Progressive Youth Association, Kpakungu, who presented a formal request seeking the construction of access roads, drainage systems, and the installation of solar-powered security streetlights in the community.
According to Hon. Bida, the administration of Governor Umar Mohammed Bago remains committed to implementing its New Niger development agenda through investments in infrastructure aimed at improving living conditions across both urban and rural communities in the state.
He said the requests submitted by the association would be forwarded to the governor for consideration and possible inclusion in the 2027 Niger State budget, particularly under the second phase of the New Niger Development Project.
The chairman also commended the association for adopting a peaceful and constructive approach in presenting the community's needs. He noted that collaboration between government institutions and community-based organisations plays an important role in identifying priority projects and supporting equitable development across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alhaji Etsu Sule Sarki and the association's Secretary, Comrade Suleiman Ibrahim, thanked the chairman for receiving the group and responding positively to their appeal. They expressed optimism that the assurances given would increase the likelihood of the community's requests being considered during the next phase of the project.
The association also acknowledged the state government's ongoing infrastructure development efforts and expressed hope that the proposed projects would enhance transportation, public safety and overall development in Kpakungu Community if approved and implemented.
