Ayuba Abubakar has called on Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, to intensify efforts toward securing the release of Barr. Ahmed Mohammed, a Commissioner with the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC), who was abducted along the Mokwa–Ibbi Road on September 29, 2025.
In a letter addressed to the governor, Abubakar expressed concern over the commissioner's continued captivity and appealed for the intervention of relevant security agencies to ensure his safe return.
He also raised concerns about reports regarding Barr. Ahmed's health condition while in captivity and urged the state government to take urgent steps toward his rescue.
The appeal highlights growing concerns among family members, colleagues, and associates of the NSIEC commissioner, who has remained missing since his abduction.
